The full form of PTE is the Pearson Test of English. It is a test that determines a student’s level of English ability. A student must pass the test in order to be accepted into a foreign institution or college where English is the only language used for communication. Usually, countries like the Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand and UK ask for a PTE scorecard.

PTE Test Format
- The PTE test assesses a candidate’s abilities on four different parameters: Speaking, Writing, Reading and Listening.
- There are two modules of the PTE test:
- PTE Academic – For Student Visa & Immigration
- UK Government Tests – PTE Academic UKVI (Study & Work) & PTE Home (Live – Citizenship)

In this section, a candidate’s ability is assessed for addressing the task appropriately by using a wide range of vocabulary and grammar.
Writing task of the Academic module differs from the writing task of the General module.

The Reading section tests the ability to read for gist, reading for key ideas, reading for detail, skimming, understanding logical argument, and recognizing writers’ opinions, attitudes and purpose.

There are three long paragraphs taken from journals, magazines, and books. The paragraphs taken in this test are meant for those who want to go abroad for higher studies.
